Meet Scorpion

Here are the details for this mode. Scorpion on bgfhb.com uses one 52-card deck with four suits. Moves build down in the same suit rather than allowing cross-suit destinations. The tableau has seven columns. Four complete King-to-Ace runs clear the game.

Read the opening cards

The first three cards in each of the first four columns are face down. Three cards remain in the stock. Each opening column contains seven cards for a total of 49 tableau cards. All cards in the last three columns are face up.

Build in the same suit

Here are the details for this mode. A seven of hearts cannot land on an eight of spades. A moved group's leading card must land on a card exactly one rank higher in the same suit. A seven of hearts can land on an exposed eight of hearts. A King cannot land on another card because no higher rank exists.

Order within a group may vary

The following details apply here. The leading selected card still has to meet the destination rule. The selected cards do not need to descend in rank to travel together. The selected cards do not need to share a suit to travel together. Any face-up card can be selected together with every card beneath it.

The empty-column rule

A few details help explain this feature. An empty column accepts a King or a group led by a King. An empty column is therefore less flexible than an empty column in ordinary Spider. A group led by a lower rank cannot enter an empty column. Cards beneath a moved King do not need to be in sequence.

Reveal the hidden cards

A few details help explain this feature. The next hidden card is revealed automatically. Undo restores the earlier hidden-card arrangement when the move is reversed. Removing all face-up cards above a hidden card turns that hidden card face up. An exposed card can carry the cards beneath it when its own destination is legal.

Use the stock once

A few details help explain this feature. This Scorpion version permits its stock deal when columns are empty. Dealing places a face-up card on each of the first three columns. The stock contains one final deal of three cards. There are no further stock cards after the three-card deal.

Complete a suit

Here are the details for this mode. Moving an unordered group does not make that group a completed sequence. A completed run must descend from King to Ace in one suit. The game removes a qualifying run automatically from the bottom of a column. All thirteen cards in a collected run must be face up.

Practice Scorpion decisions

Here are the details for this mode. A move can carry unwanted cards along with a useful leading card. Checking the whole moved group helps you anticipate what will become blocked. Hint lists legal choices without promising a winning continuation. Replay and Undo let you explore another approach to the same layout.
